Custom Made Little Honey Diapers

When my daughter going 2 years, i started to potty train her. she wear diapers only when go out and going to sleep because she is hardly wake up at night for toilet and she did pee in the car a few times. Even untill now she still on diapers during that time. i sew a diaper that suit her age.

If your child is on potty train and use diapers during nightime only but hardly find size for your child, we have a solution for you. here, we are offering a custom made diaper that will make the diapers just the right size for your baby. it is ecomonical because you only need a few diapers only for the whole process instead of buying a package of size XL, XXL or XXXL disposable diapers a month. You just need to measure the size of your child and choose the material you like, and the diaper is ready to sew within 2-4 days time.

How to measure your child diaper size? **Measurement is in inch or cm only**

1. Take your child's measurements over a diaper.

2. Waist measurement: Take the measurement at the belly button.

3. Rise measurement: The rise measurement is taken from the belly button, down through the legs, and up the back to where the belly button would be if it was on the back.
4. Thight: If your child have drumstick thight, it is better to measure the tight diameter to reduce red marks.

Fabric types

1. Organic Bamboo Velour- This soft creamy fabric is primarily used for the outer or innermost layer of diapers. it does not have the wicking properties like synthetic such as fleece or suedecloth, but it hold moisture well and still comfortable when wet. it is gentle on skin and i recommend this fabric to be used on sensitive child. This is my favourite inner layer fabric for my daughter that have super sensitive skin. My daughter experience rashes on some microfleece but very comfortable and rashes free on bamboo velour.

2. Organic Bamboo Fleece-Often used for the absorbent soaker of the diapers. This absorb more than cotton and microfibre. 3 layer microfibre (thick microfibre)==2 layers bamboo fleece.

3. Organic Bamboo French Terry-Ofthen used for the absorbent soaker. Absorbs very quickly and traps moisture in the fabric very well.

4. Hemp- Hemp has natural antimicrobial properties and absorbs much more than cotton alone.

Treating Rashes

Even cloth diapers prevent diapers rash, babies with ultra sensitive skin may experience diapers rash from time to time. DO NOT USE ANY CREAM OR OINTMENT on your diapers. Those creams or ointments will build up in the fleece and causing the diaper to leak. If you still need to use creams or ointment, use a liner on top of your diaper inner layer. You can try treating rashes by:

  1. Clean baby with water or cloth wipes.
  2. Use natural detergent for diaper laundry.
  3. Try a diaper change. Try different kind of diaper to find the material best suit your child.
  4. Detergent build up also can lead to rashes.
To resolve detergent build up :-

  1. First, run a hot wash without detergent.
  2. Second, run a hot wash with ½ detergent.
  3. Third, rinse with cold water. Detergent must be rinsed well from the diapers. If the result still bad, repeat Step [3]. Striping wash diapers is not necessary especially for highly sensitive skin child.

Washing Your Cloth Diapers

  1. Remove the inserts from the pocket.
  2. Throw any solid waste into the toilet. Rinse to ensure all the soiled or urine is rinsed out.
  3. Adobe SystemsFold back your laundry tabs (if any) or fasten the velcro on the diaper. This is to avoid the diaper from being tangled during the washing process.
  4. Keep it in the cover bin/pail or wetbag. When it is time to wash, throw everything into you washing machine.
  5. Ensure the water level can completely cover the diapers.
  6. Use half of the recommended manufacturer detergent volume. Avoid using fabric softener or bleach.
  7. If you do handwashing, please use a second rinse to ensure all detergent is rinsed out.
  8. Dry your diapers. For best result, dry diapers under the sun. The sun will bleach away your stains naturally.

Before You Start Using Your Cloth Diapers

  1. Please prewash your cloth diapers for at least 3 times before use.
  2. Before first use, wash your diaper in hot water to remove the manufacturer oil (especially on the hemp or bamboo). Line dry.
  3. Second wash, wash with cold water using washing machine with half of detergent recommended. (cloth diaper don’t need too much detergent).
  4. Dry your diaper in the dryer or just line dry.
  5. If you are hand wash it, please rinse with more water.
  6. DO NOT USE BLEACH & SOFTENERS. DO NOT USE DETEREGANT THAT CONTAINS ENZYME.
  7. Repeat another wash for more absorbency.
Why?

The actual reason behind this is because enzyme attack on dynamic stain & poop stain. If the diapers are not washed thoroughly, some of the enzyme will stay on the diapers and will be reactivated when the diapers get wet. Reactivated enzymes will attack baby’s skin which lead them to rashes.

Disposable Diapers vs Reusable Cloth Diapers

Disposable Diapers
  • No extra laundry to wash.
  • Convenience-Compact for storing and traveling and readily available at even the corner stores.
  • Very absorbent-give baby a dry feeling next to his skin.
  • Variety-if one doesn't meet your needs, another brand or style will.

That sounds pretty good...so what's the downside?

  • Disposable nappies are expensive!
  • Increases the risk of nappy rash-Disposable nappies feel dry even when they have soaked up a lot of urine. This often results in fewer nappy changes and consequently increases the risk of nappy rash.
  • Unable to measure newborn consume milk-Another issue concerning newborns is that it's tough to measure urine output, which is a large indicator of how much milk your baby is consuming. The absorbing materials in a disposable nappy can easily deceive you into thinking your child is not outputting as much as expected in those all important first weeks and months of life.
  • Environmental concerns. According to the Women's Environmental Network in the UK in an article they published in 2003, one-half of the waste produced by a family with a baby who wears disposable nappies is the nappies that are thrown away! If you are looking for an eco-friendly diapering method, cloth could be a better option.
Reusable Cloth Diapers
  • Less nappy rash-Cloth nappies allow air to circulate around baby's bum and therefore, you have less chance of nappy rash. The latest innovations in cloth nappies use materials like fleece that allow baby's urine to pass through to be absorbed by another layer away from direct contact with his skin.
  • -Enviromental friendly
  • -As convenience as dispposableit is easy to wear, just snap the button or fasten the velcro.

  • -Variety-There are many design parents can choose nowadays to fits their baby either fitted, one size, perfect size, pocket style, all in one (AIO) or all in two (AI2).there must be one design that fit for your baby.
  • -There are extremely gorgeous!- with fabulous print and design, your baby will look super duper cute in this cloth diapers.

So which is better?

When it comes to diaper changing, the choice of diapers will depend solely on you and your baby. What was right for other mom might not be right for you. What works for your friends may not work for your baby. It is all a matter of personal choice. Once you make the educated choice, be confident in it and try not to second guess yourself. Other people's opinions are just that. If you haven't asked for their expertise, don't feel like you need to take it into consideration!

Happy cloth diapering!!

Why Use Reusable Cloth Diapers

It is convenient

To me cloth diapers are convenient as using disposable diapers, healthier for our children especially to those with highly sensitive skin, cost effective, and better for the environment. Using one reusable diaper a day can save our planet from waste.

Yet many parents think that cloth diaper is like the traditional folded and fastened lampin and covered with plastic covers. Today is not what it used to be. Cloth diapers available today are adorable, available in a variety gorgeous colors, prints, and luxurious textures and fabric. It also comes with variety design from fitted to one size fits all, comes with snaps button or velcro. You can choose the best diapering system for your individual needs.

Still not convinced?

Many people are reluctant to cross over to cloth diapers because of the washing factor. It is just too easy to throw away disposable diapers, rather than deal with washing them. However, it's really not that difficult. After depositing any solid waste into the toilet, you can wash a load of diapers in the washing machine. Most diaper covers can be machine washed, unless they're wool, which require hand washing. Regardless of washing, however, think of what sacrificing a little extra time with the laundry will benefit in other areas.

Cost Effective

If u asked many parent out there, one of the largest expenses for their children is diapers. Cloth Diapers Are Cheaper Than Disposable Diapers because it is reusable and can be used until the next children. By using cloth diapers, you’ll save amount of money because you only need to buy a few set of cloth diapers according to your laundry preference. Most parent will go around 6500 to 8700 diapers from birth to about age three or until potty trained.

It will cost you:

RM3250-RM4350 for 3 years using disposable diapers (if RM0.50 sen each)

RM1000- RM1500 for 3 years using reusable cloth diapers (if diaper price within RM50-RM75 each and you buy maximum 20 diapers to make rotation of laundry in every two days)

Amount of saving: between RM 2250- to RM2850 – and this for one child.

This cloth diapers may last for the next child and you will be saving double or even triple on the diaper expenses!

So, how many diapers should u buy? Enough to have at least for 2 days stock unless you want to do laundry everyday, then 10 pcs is enough. However it depends on your laundry routine and how many child you have. My children share diapers among them because I prefer to use one size. This one size is more worthy because you can use it from birth till 2 to 3 years old (according to toddler size).

Yes, cloth diapers will usually mean an extra loads of laundry a week, but if you were to weigh the extra costs of their electricity, water usage, and detergent, you will pleasantly surprised because these costs are very very minimal compared to the cost of expensive disposable diapers!

Cloth Diapers Are Healthier For Your Baby

Some babies can be allergic to the harsh chemicals and plastics used in making disposable diapers. It happened to me where my daughter suffer from severe eczema when wearing disposable diapers. Dioxin, the toxic chemicals present in disposable diaper been shown to cause cancer, birth defects, liver damage, and skin diseases, genetic damage, is a by-product of the paper-bleaching process used in manufacturing disposable diapers, and trace quantities may exist in the diapers themselves. Dioxin is listed by the EPA as the most toxic of cancer related chemicals. Disposable diapers contain Tributyl-tin (TBT) - a toxic pollutant known to cause hormonal problems in humans and animals. Disposable diapers also contain sodium polyacrylate. If you have ever seen the gel-like, super absorbant crystals in a disposable than you have seen this first hand. Sodium polyacrylate is the same substance that was removed from tampons because of its link to toxic shock syndrome. No studies have been done on the long-term effects of this chemical being in contact with a baby's reproductive organs 24 hours a day for upwards of two years. Studies have also been done to show that the chemical emissions from disposable diapers can cause respiratory problems in children. Cloth diapers, on the other hand, are free of the many chemicals contained in disposable diapers.

Cloth Diapers Are Better For The Environment

The idea of a "disposable" diaper is a myth; the ramifications of which will stay with us for centuries to come. They are the third largest single product in the waste stream behind newspapers and beverage containers. Disposable diapers fill up the landfills and don't biodegrade fast enough to keep up with our human consumption. Cloth diapers on the other hand, are made of biodegradable materials, so when they finally have served the full extent of their purpose, they won't add to any pollution problems. Using reusable cloth diapers are rewarding investment all around - a financial investment, an investment in our children’s health, and an investment in our planet.

My Cloth Diapers Journey

Saya memulakan memakai CD (cloth diapers) to my DD (dear daughter, fatin) semenjak hujung tahun 2007 atas nasihat doktor anak saya. anak saya pengidap eczema yang sangat teruk dan it happened through the year especially when i ate seafood due to her fully BF (breasfeed). i try to consume less seafood but sometimes i cannot avoid it as well. namun eczema dier cuma kat satu tempat ajer iaitu kat bontot, memang pantang berpeluh lebih2 mesti naik ruam. kalau lambat tukat diapers mesti rashes teruk. di tambah plak kalu dia sakit makan antibiotik selalu gak kena rashes. macam-mcam disposable diapers dah saya try dari brand murah ke brand mahal (paling mahal pun huggies ajerlah yang mampu pun) tapi tak berjaya mengurangkan rashesnya. sampailah satu hari doktoryang biasa merawat dia suggest saya pakai lampin (an ordinary traditional lampin) . after i used it for two weeks, alhamdulillah she was no longger suffer from rashes except kalau saya makan seafood lagi. dari situ saya terus jer pakai lampin kain tiga segi tu dan saya search for cloth diapers.

i never thought that this traditional triangle folded lampin have emerged to modern cloth diapers which is more cuter design, easy to wear and as easy as wearing the disposable diapers, LOL. then after that i became one of the cloth diaper fan (not a fan actually, maybe consider as CD addict). everyday i m looking for a good CD with a worth price to buy for my DD. if i got extra money i will find CD to buy. and it is worth buying sebab boleh gunakan CD tu long term sehingga anak-anak yang berikutnya. thats why i never regret to wear and buy CD for my daughter.

now i have another child, DS (dear son, fakhri) is now using CD as well. he just wear his sister CD and they can even sharing their CD. my DD is on potty train, so i just used Cd when se is going to bed only (sebabnya banyak dah kes terbocor ni).

the reason why i still stick to wear this CD because i dont want my younger child suffer from rashes like what his sister does and of course it save me alot from buying dispo. currently, im 100% Cding my children. it is a great experience to Cding your child. there are a lot of CD in the market nowadays, not like the day a started using CD , where there is only a few online store sell CD. one of the benefit CDing i see is the child will potty train early compared to other child on dispo.
